People ask us why we started with a ginger ale. The honest answer is that we did not plan to start with anything. We were running a restaurant next to the big campus in Berkeley, California, feeding people in very rush lunch hours. But one day, we made a mushroom-infused lemongrass drink in the kitchen, put it on the menu, just for caring our own customers.
Our loyal customers firstly bought it because they just want to support our business and they know it may be good. Then they came back and became big fans of it. No matter the falvors of the drinks we made keep changing, they always grab one with our food.
The first batch
It was time when we moved back to Chiang Mai, Thailand. We were thinking about what we wanted to do next. We had been experimenting with mushrooms for years, and we wanted to see if we could make something that people would actually want to drink.
After all taste and test, we decided to make ginger as our solid base and started to craft a myco-ginger ale.
The reactions
A regular came back a week later and said, “I have been feeling more balanced.” Another said, “My energy is different.” And one person simply said, “This tastes like home.”
That last one stopped us. Because that was exactly what we were trying to do — not to make a wellness product, but to make something that felt like home.
What we learned
We learned that people are tired of being sold to. They want to feel understood, not optimized. They want something that helps, made by someone who cares, without the clinical coldness that so much wellness carries.
That ginger ale became JasmineMyco. Not because it was a breakthrough. Because it was honest.
Where we are now
We still make it the same way. Small batches, real ginger, raw honey, Reishi extract. The recipe has not changed, because it did not need to. Some things are right the first time.
If you have not tried it yet, that is where we would tell you to start. Not because it is our best product — that depends on who you are. But because it is where we started, and it tells you who we are.
